A very delight new trekking route in Lower Everest Region, Pikey Trek is honestly newly hunt trekking route of Nepal. Recently opened, a very less crowded trekking route, Pikey is getting popular day by day for a fast view of the highest mountain of the world Mt. Everest (8848 m. /29029 ft.). On this trek, you can encounter Mt. Everest on the first day of your trip, which is rare among trekking routes in Nepal.
On this trek, you can explore more than six mountains above 8000 m high in the same trek.
A moderate trekking route Pikey Trek is an interesting trekking route to explore the Himalayan nature and culture of Lower Everest Region in a short period of time at much cheaper cost.
Another interesting thing of Pikey Trek can be the Thupten Chholing Monastery which was established around 1960's and it is also known as Tibetian Refugee Camp, where more than 1000 small nuns and monks houses can be seen.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu

Pikey Trek Accommodations:

Physical Conditions & Experience Required
Pikey Trek is a moderate grade trek. The climate might vary, as it is a natural phenomenon, but usually, the weather is quite clear during the aforementioned Period. The trek is for passionate walkers. The actual trekking duration will be of 10 days. You have to be well-trained trekkers but if you have a habit of walking will help you to enjoy more.
One might need to walk for almost 4-7 hours on a daily basis. With years of experience and dedicated team, we guarantee the ability to solve what may come will obviously make this trek safe, successful and be a memory to remember.

Day 01Arrival day in KathmanduNamaste and welcome to Nepal. Alpine Excursion Treks and expedition's representative welcome you warmly at the Tribhuwan International Airport and transfer to the hotel. You take rest and enjoy your meal in the evening. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02Rest (Sightseeing in Kathmandu) valley After the breakfast, you set out for the sightseeing trip in the Kathmandu valley. Our expert tour guide shows you the UNESCO world heritage sites, which include Pashupatinath (the Hindu temple), Boudhanath (Buddhist stupa), Swayambhunath (Buddhist stupa and temple). Then, return back to the hotel. If you have to shop, you have time to do. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 03 Drive to Dhap (3150m) 7-8hrsThis is one of the exciting days of the Pikey trek because we leave a quite crowded city Kathmandu early morning. We drive via Bhaktapur district, Kavre and during the day we will cross various different district of Nepal includes Sindhuli, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga and finally, we reach to the Solukhumbu district where is our trekking hub. The road for the day is blacktopped. At the day of driving, we will enjoy the view of local villages, Tamakoshi, Sunkoshi, Bhotekoshi and Dudhkoshi River. We will have lunch on the way half where normally typical Dhalbhat will be available. After lunch when we cross to the Ghurmi and Okhaldhunga we will see various mountain views as well including Mt. Gaurishanker, Mt. Number, etc. with the drive around 7 hours we will be at Dhap Village where we stay tonight.
Day 04Trek to Jhapre (2820m) 8.5km. 5-6hrs.Early morning around 5 or 6 am we climb up to Changesthan Temple, a popular Hindu Temple in Lower Everest Region. Interesting is not the only temple which is the most splendid viewpoint of the highest mountain of the world Mt. Everest (8848 m./ 29029 ft). After having the magnificent look of the various mountain including Mt. Everest we back to the hotel or camp have breakfast and start another exciting day of the trek. On this day we do lunch camp at Jhapre village but we do tea break and several water breaks during the trek. This day is quite normal trekking day we just climb small upward, with the very superb views of two different district Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu at the same time. On this day we walk through the dense forest of Pine trees, Rhododendron forest, various other flora, fauna and beautiful pasture land. t lunch, as per walking speed, we will reach Jhapre approx. 12 to 1 pm. We will have lunch, will take room or tent, take shower and some relax. After refreshment, we will visit local monastery and village then back to camp, have dinner and your guide will brief you in detail for next day's plan.
Day 05Trek to Lhamuje (3500m) 4-5 hrs After a hot breakfast, again we start our trek through the dense pine forest. On this day we need to climb gradually up around 60-70 degrees of the climb to reach Pokharedanda. When we reach Pokharedanda you can enjoy the view of Cow Shed with cows and yaks. On this day also we do lunch camp at Lhamuje but same as last day we will do several water breaks and tea break in Bhulbhule village. After Pokhara and we trek through the very beautiful pasture land, it must be one the best pastures land of Everest region. On this day you can see more than 6 different kinds of Rhododendron flowers in spring season which is in bushes size. In between Bhulbhule and Lhamuje village, we can also explore Lake called Machhapokhari (Fish Lake). Finally, we are at Lhamuje at our lunch and camp place, will have lunch take room or tent. After the refreshment of some hour then we will again out for Lhamuje Stupa, Monastery and Cowshed. If we have more time we will also do the jungle walking. After doing all activities same schedule repeat as like last day.
Day 06Trek to Base Camp (3640m) 4-5 hrsAs previous day, after hot breakfast we start our trek for the day again, We trek street trail almost two and half hours. An easy starting will give you more energy to capture your moments of the trip. During the trek at the place called Chutenga, you will be able to see very beautiful Pasture land and Yak shed. After this place, we will get to the longest Mani wall of Everest Region trek which is not less than 135 meters long. We walk through left of the Mani wall. After Mani wall we will take a small water break, preparing to go steep up, we climb around 300 meters up to reach to the hill. Then again we walk the street trail for south-west Pikey Basecamp which is our camp place. On this day as well we will do lunch camp at the same place. Take room or tent get relaxed and again outing for much popular Yak cheese factory of Nepal. It is directly invested by Nepal government. Moreover, we also visit a popular Chumuni cave. After these activities again regular schedule will follow.
Day 07 Trek to pikey peak summit (4068m) and come down to Jase Bhanjyan (3520m) 3-4hrs This is again another exciting day for the whole trekking because this is the day of reaching the highest point of the whole trek. On this day we will start the very early morning and have breakfast early. The interesting part of the day will, we will reach 2 different summit point. For the first pikey summit point (4065 m. / 13337 ft.) we have to climb up 300 meters from basecamp and still for central (main) Pikey Summit (4068 m. / 13346 ft.) we have to walk around 50 m. down and 150 m. up. During this trek, up and down trek we can explore the closer view of Yaks grazing and without doubt very stunning view of different high and low mountains. From the Pikey top, we can see the magnificent view of more than 6 over 8000 m. high mountains, which includes Mt. Everest (8,848 m. / 29029 ft.), Mt. Makalu (8,463 m. / 27766 ft.) Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m./ 28169 ft.), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m./ 27940 ft.), Mt. Cho-Oyu (8210 m./ 26935 ft.) and also the highest mountain of Tibet Mt. Shishapangma (8013 m./ 26290 ft.). Moreover, many another superb view of less than 8000 m. peaks include Mt. Numbur (Dudhkunda) 6958 m. / 22828 ft.), Mt. Amadablam (6812 m. / 22349 ft.), Mt. Karelung (6530 m. / 21424 ft.), Kongde Peak (6086 m. / 19967 ft.), Mera Peak (6461 m. / 21198 ft.), Iceland Peak (6189 m. / 20305 ft.), Mt. Thamserku (6618 m. / 21712 ft.) and many other peaks and also we can explore Langtang-ri. Then after about 30 min to 1 hour of stay at the top, we go down to Jhase Bhannjyang which is also the Basecamp of Pikey summit from another part. Firstly we go down through the golden leaf (Sunpati) bushes and rhododendron forest again. We almost walk 500 meters down to reach Jhase Bhanjyang (3530 m.). We will have lunch and get relax and follow a regular schedule as previous days.
Day 08Trek to Junbesi (2700m) 5-6hrsAfter a memorable night at Jhase Bhanjhyang, on this day we start our day with very hot breakfast, after having breakfast we immediately climb up to the Palu danda where we can see Yak shed and a group of Yaks. Then we follow street way about 45 minutes take some rest, some pictures and drink water. Now, we head down about 600-700 meter via rhododendron and pine forest again. Around 2 hours of walking, we reach to the Tacktor where we meet the very old Everest trekking path followed by Sir Edmund Hillary. As per our schedule, we will take lunch at Taktor then we move to Junbesi directly which is our place for camp today. After getting relax, we will finish some small activities of Junbesi village, we will visit Junbesi Monastery, which is established in the 7th century. Apart from that, we will also visit local apple garden, school, stupas and if we will get more time we will visit the river and hydropower plant. Then back to the hotel or camp then follow as the usual schedule for the day.
Day 09Trek Thuptenchholing monastery (Tibetan refugee camp) and come back to phaplu. 6-7 hrsA real-time last trek day and much interesting. After a hot breakfast, we start our journey towards Thupten Choling Gompa (Monastery) and Tibetian Refugee Camp. For this, we have to walk around 2-3 hours gradually up. Thupten Cholling Monastery has a very old history in the Buddhist community. Apart from this, another interesting fact of Thupten Choling Monastery is we can see the Tibetian refugee camp, where we can see more than 1000 house of nuns. 1 house allocated for each nun available. It is a restricted area, where not allowed to go without official permission of the Refugee camp delegates. This trail also follows the main trekking trail for Dudhkunda Trek. After some quality time at the monastery, refugee camp, the monk, nuns we come back down and follow the trail of Phaplu via Beni village. Beni where we can see Rainbow trout fish farming. Finally, we reach to Phaplu, the last destination of our trekking. Where we celebrate our last day with all staff with delicious last day cake prepared by the team.
Day 10Fly back to Kathmandu 25minuts flight or Drive back to Kathmandu On this day, we will fly back to Kathmandu from Phaplu airport. If the weather condition gets bad and flights get cancelled then we can have the option to reserve the Jeep and drive to Kathmandu in around 10 to 11 hours.
Day 11Rest (Shopping) dayAfter the whole excursion, Rest (shopping day) you have your own day. It is time to go shopping and buy souvenirs for your family members and your friends. Then you can have a relaxing time. Overnight at lodge.
Day 12Final departure to your homeland The last day of the trip, the representative of the Alpine Excursion Treks and Expedition bid you farewell to the airport. Thank you for joining us for your memorable trip. See you again.
